The more things change, the more they stay the same. I still hate the Sacramento Kings with every cell in my body. But while the Kings languish near the bottom of the West, the Lakers are at the top of the conference Suck it Kings fans! With tonight's game against Sacramento as with EVERYTIME the Kings play, I remember the past. And smile.
Vlade Divac "assisting" Robert Horry on THE shot to shut down the Sacramento Kings hopes of a championship. Doug Christie's warden, I mean wife, monitoring his every move, the cowbells, the (alleged) poisoning of Kobe Bryant, etc. You know what I'm talking about Lakers fans. The window closed in 2002 on Sac's chance of winning an NBA championship. It went down the drain just like that historic, series changing, shot Horry made. Sacramento, the team and the city, have never been the same.
Obviously I don't have to tell you, Lakers fans, what changes have happened to both teams in six years. But while the Kings have made changes that haven't done much, the Lakers have. (Although I still think dumping Shaq was one of the worst things the Lakers have done, but that's a topic for a different day!). Getting Pau Gasol, keeping Andrew Bynum, making Kobe happy.
It seems the Kings have focused most of their attention on getting the taxpayers to pay for a new arena. A change in scenery, a change in their luck? I don't think so.
Lakers will win tonight, humiliating the Kings just like in the past. Some things never change.
That's what the Sports-Diva says.
