Some say that the league wanted this; that there is a conspiracy to bring about a Lakers-Celtics championship. My response: Thanks, but you're idiots. All of you. There, I said it, now shut up. Yes, the thought of a Lakers-Celtics finals makes me salivate, it's true. But I could say that about any other team in the league that the Lakers would be facing. I'm sure that any fan would have done just about anything to see the Lakers in the finals, regardless of who they faced. And face it, it's a coincedince. The best teams in the league just happen to be the Lakers and Celtics. Let it go, we're the best, its not a conspiracy. Anybody who watched the Lakers-

Did Derek Fisher foul Brent Barry? Did the San Antonio Spurs get robbed of a victory? Is the NBA leaning heavily towards a Boston Celtics-L.A. Lakers NBA Finals matchup?
The answers: Yes. No. Yes.

Like a true Black Mamba, Bryant senses that his prey, the San Antonio Spurs, are weak, wounded and ready to be taken out. The Lakers took a 3-1 series lead Tuesday night in San Antonio thanks to Bryant and can close out the

One, the San Antonio Spurs cannot guard Kobe Bryant. Never had. Never will. Kobe was absolutely right when he said, "I can get off any time I want" (he meant basketball term "getting off"). Once Kobe finally escaped the bermuda triangle he was on in the first half, the league's MVP took control of the game.

OK, Lakers, doin' good -- just don't spot the Spurs 20 pts. next outing, and you'll be fine. Those tough cowpokes may be old, but don't tempt fate with a 1st half rope-a-dope again.
Get yer young guns blazin' earlier, and take care of this classic Western Conference Finals business at the OK (as in Odom/Kobe, w/plenty of Pau power) Corral. This is the match-up I predicted, though New Orleans made it interesting.

Well, the Lakers and Spurs know each other so well that both teams' scouting departments will be taking the next two weeks off. There is no need to study. The Lakers are all too familiar with the

This must be old news: The San Antonio Spurs are in the Western Conference finals.
Oh, it's true. The Spurs are playing the Lakers in one half of the NBA's version of the Final Four. For those who care, the Boston Celtics and (yawn!) the Detroits Pistons are playing in the Eastern Conference finals. This also means the NBA's worst nightmare ratings wise is still alive: a

Meanwhile, in the East -- s'up with Boston? What part of put the effin' lowly Hawks away do they not understand? Pistons struggled, but overcame Sixers in 6. Cavs offed the Wizards in 6. Orlando, echoing their great center Dwight Howard, is lookin' like the true "Beast of the East."

Spurs-Suns: I am not sure if the NBA loves this or hates this. Two of the best teams in the league meeting in the first round. One of the 5 teams that can win it all is going home without seeing round 2. I personally love it. We get these two teams best because they meet now and won’t be as worn down. The

Another big test: on the road against defending champ San Antonio Spurs, Jan. 24:
Early team effort good. D-Fish, Kwame, Lamar, Kobe, smooth as a team, leading 17-10.
Mbenga had a tough spell as backup center. But still no doubt better than a firing squad in the Congo. Sidebar road to a 10-day contract.
