Jazz

30 May 2008

We swept the Nuggets, silenced the Jazz, and dethroned the Spurs. We are the Western Conference Champions, undoubtedly the best team with the best player in the world, perhaps of all time.

Some say that the league wanted this; that there is a conspiracy to bring about a Lakers-Celtics championship. My response: Thanks, but you're idiots. All of you. There, I said it, now shut up. Yes, the thought of a Lakers-Celtics finals makes me salivate, it's true. But I could say that about any other team in the league that the Lakers would be facing. I'm sure that any fan would have done just about anything to see the Lakers in the finals, regardless of who they faced. And face it, it's a coincedince. The best teams in the league just happen to be the Lakers and Celtics. Let it go, we're the best, its not a conspiracy. Anybody who watched the Lakers-Spurs series can tell you about the plethora of missed calls on Kobe, especially in game 5. While kobe has been known to complain, he was hit plenty of times with no call. And I know what you're going to say, so stop. The end of game 4 was a perfect no call. Refs don't decide games, especially when Brent Barry is 5 feet outside of the 3 point line. Get a better shot.

The Lakers-Jazz series went six games but I never felt the Jazz really threatened the Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals.

The Jazz are a nice team but they lack a true superstar. They don't have a player who Shaquille O'Neal calls "assassins." Utah has borderline all-stars in Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer, but it doesn't have a player who can single-handedly destroy an opponent's gameplan. A player who can put a team on his shoulders on offense and carry them to victory. A player like Kobe Bryant.

they got home they easily tied the series at 2-2 with a couple of blow-outs.  We all knew the Jazz were very good at home but I can’t lie, I am shocked they held off the Lakers twice in the fourth quarter of close games.  Three of the four series are tied at 2-2 with game five on the horizon.  The home team should feel confident for the next game though, that’s for sure.

Even if the Utah Jazz manage to tie up this seven-game series, I still feel very confident about the Lakers chances of advancing to the Western Conference finals. Here are five reasons why:

Sure the Lakers were out rebounded, had 15 turnovers compared to 10 for the Jazz, and shot 27 more free throws but the Lakers shot 57% from the field, while the Jazz

Coming into this series some people actually have the Utah Jazz favored.  Yes, the same team that went 17-24 on the road.  Some prognosticators don’t think the Lakers can bang with the

I was hoping to get this up yesterday with the Yankees-Red Sox series fresh in everyone’s mind but I didn’t have the time.  After a few weeks of the baseball season and watching almost every Red Sox and Yankee game I have a few observations on these two teams so far.  You may not agree with them all, this is just what I have noticed this season.

Whatever the name of the building it's working for the Jazz because they are 28-3 at home. The Jazz plays with tremendous energy at home and that means they get to rebounds and loose balls a lot quicker in their home building. This means Pau Gasol, Odom and Ronny Turiaf need to bring their hard hats.
