Finals

28 April 2009

I say this not cause they seem to be struggling with the bulls, They went to 7 games in all 3 rounds of the playoffs last year so they are right on track from last year. This year though people have their number and they are banged up a bit like the lakers were.

ere is hope for a brighter future, and although it might take us a year to see them back in the NBA Finals, I am ready to cheer for them once again. I know they will have a great season next ye

al fan would believe the Lakers would be the first team to rally back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals. My response to that is only an ignorant columnist would write something to that degree. No one game is ever guaranteed, and it's statements like that which make the writer a fool if ever proven wrong. Every sports analyst and columnist knows they should never guarantee anything, whether it be a game, series, championship, etc. They know that any one team can beat any other team on any day. It's never a guaranteed possibility with sports.

Are they Lakers finished? Is there any way for them to come back from this? Can they dig themselves out of this hole that they dug? Can they come back from a 3-1 deficit? Or is it all over for our golden team? These are some of the questions I mulled over the days that followed Game 4. I have complete faith that the Lakers can still win the championship, but words can't express how difficult it will be for them to bounce back from this tragedy. It's improbable, but not impossible.

I could easily say the Lakers struggled last night in Boston, again. But this couldn't be much further from the truth. I know people use the excuse of referee favoring, but anyone who watched this game could point out the strict favoritism shown by the referees. I don't know if the association doesn't want Kobe to win another championship, or if they just want to make the series interesting, but I need a little more cooperation out of our "black-and-whites".

The Lakers struggled some in Game 1 in Boston. The Celtics are not as strong as I assumed before I saw them play last Thursday. They are definitely beatable, especially by the Lakers. The good news from what I've seen so far is, the Celtics didn't win Game 1, the Lakers just lost it.

7 would be on a Sunday, but the Game 7 will be on Thursday night if the series gets that far.

The Finals are on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and there are three day rest not being travel days.  By moving the finals forward, to start on Tuesday, there would not be as much of a potential for rustiness in Game 1, because as of now with a week layoff there is a potential for rustiness especially in Game 1 which will make it hard for Game 1 of the finals to live up to the hype.  The finals should be about accommodating the teams.  Which means giving them that third day on travel days, especially if they feel the travel is too much that the series needs to be in a 2-3-2 format so that they can go across the country.  They have decided that the travel impacts the series enough that they should not fly back and forth across the country between games 4,5,6, and 7.  However, by giving only the singular off-day they are saying that the travel does not get as much consideration as they seem to be giving it.

Gun-slingin' wild horse in a 9-deep horse race. Yikes, mixed metaphors.

I used to think 8 seeds per conference was overkill, seeming to invite EVERYBODY to post-season. Well I don't recall such a wild neck-in-neck race in the West. The Lakers had surged to #1 of course, 10 in a row. Then lost one to Portland. Triumphed in an OT thriller at home against the Mavericks on Sunday. Vis-a-vis the stately Spurs in the West as of March 3rd, 10pm? Spurs 41-17, .707; Lakers 42-18, .700. #2 now by a percentile sliver. We can live with that. And regain #1 pronto. Lakers-Spurs conference final would be cool, depends on the scheduling.

that preview of the Eastern Conference Finals... Maybe we'll see the Pistons cause a funk in the post-season, but the Cavs have the Pistons cards -- pushed them to the brink two seasons ago and smashed them last season (neither team made any significant roster changes, so I expect the results to be the same should they meet in the Eastern Conference semifinals).
