Derek Fisher

9 November 2009

In 35 minutes of play, Derek Fisher was unable to accumulate a single point, rebound, or assist in the Lakers overtime win over the Rockets.

Surely that has to be some sort of record, right? It’s not possible for a starter to go the entire game and not register any stats, is it?

ure was not only the team backbone play of Finals MVP Kobe Bryant, but the big-time clutch shots of Derek Fisher, the 3-pt. dagger to take Orlando to OT, and another 3-pt. shot in OT, off a great feed from Bryant to help seal the deal, and open up a 3-1 series lead in Game 4.

Dear Derek Fisher,

I'm sorry. I never should have questioned your play in these playoffs.

After Thursday night's heroics that lifted your Los Angeles Lakers to the 99-91 overtime victory over the Orlando Magic in Game 4 of the NBA Finals and gave your team a seemingly insurrmountable 3-1 series lead, you have earned a Laker Benefit of the Doubt card. For life.

No matter what deficiencies that lineup has, Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher can compensate for it. We may never see that lineup, let's hope Phil Jackson at least gives it a chance in a game.

Keving Garnet brought it tonight. So did Rajon Rondo and Derek Fisher. Ray Allen was also big tonight. Sasha Vujacic was a pest to Ray Allen, it was really funny watching Vajacic chase him arou

I like to call this years NBA Finals “Star-Studded”:

Point Guard (Derek Fisher vs. Rajon Rondo) Derek Fisher has been through it all with the Lakers. He already has 3 rings under his belt and he’s been in these NBA Finals before. He is also still pretty good defensively. On the other hand, Rajon Rondo has been running Boston Celtics the whole season and through the playoffs. He knows he will have to use his speed to his advantage. He will be getting into transition and slashing to the hole all day. He will have no problem keeping up with the not so fast

e, the Lakers are back in the Western Conference Finals, a place they have not been since 2004 when Derek Fisher’s shot with .4 seconds left changed the course of the series. The Spurs have been the model of consistency, winning the title in 2005 and then again in 2007. The Spurs have 4 championships in 9 years and are looking for their first repeat. They are the defending champs, however at times during the year they have looked old, however they have survived the first two rounds of the playoffs, and are coming to Los Angeles tonight on very little rest. While a lot has changed for the Lakers the Spurs have stayed the same. Tonight they will open their series, and the new-look Lakers are led by familiar faces, Kobe Bryant and

As I watched the Hornets-Spurs game last night, I had no idea whom I wanted to win.  The Hornets?  The Spurs?  It wasn't so much that I was rooting for my favorite of the two, but I was looking for the opponent that couldn't match up with the Lakers.  It was a great game, but in the end, I think I did want the Hornets to win.  With Tony Parker maturing and Tim Duncan his usually great stoic self, the veteran Spurs always somehow find a way to win unspectacularly.  I've always like the Spurs since the George Gervin days, but I will always choose my Lakers over the Spurs anyday...

Or so we think!  Although I'm hoping that Pau, LO, Fish and company pull it off tonight--the Nuggets are a house divided--it wouldn't be all that bad if they lost... They can easily finish the Nuggets off at home in Game 5!  And with the way Luke Walton is playing!  He just adds something to the equation, something that the Lakers have sorely missed from Luke.  But here's my real concern...
