Bynum

30 May 2008

Finally.

A collective sigh of relief can finally be let out. After a season that can, at best, be called unpredictable, the Lakers have solidified their position as one of the elite teams in the NBA. Yes, Lakers fans, we have once again climbed the mountain and are almost at the end of our journey. We swept the Nuggets, silenced the Jazz, and dethroned the Spurs. We are the Western Conference Champions, undoubtedly the best team with the best player in the world, perhaps of all time.

d furious tournament concludes.

If the Lakers make conference finals and face the Suns, one hopes Bynum is back and well-integrated into the new-look Lakers with significant (though gradually assigned) playing time.

If you read my last post you could almost see last nights horrific display beforehand. What happened to the defensive intensity we have showed for long stretched this season? It was completely non-existent. None of our guards are capable of staying in front of anybody right now, not even Kobe. To make matters worse we have no real shot blocking presence in the middle. Don't get me wrong Ronny is playing amazing, but he is a better shot blocker on the ball. Both Andrew and Mihm are much better help side blockers.

w and gas the Lakers need to fill the void left by the injured absence of the newly-emergent Andrew Bynum.

I paid little attention to the Raptors game, knowing all along the Lakers would win, and enjoying the odd good news of a big-time trade overshadowing a winning road performance, one they really needed.

lly now, can't K Brown and Odom and Turiaf TOGETHER cover for the emergent young homegrown star Bynum, lately down in the knee?

One hates it when Kobe has to take the team back on his shoulders, when his quota's 50 instead of 30, since the last anybody checked, it was a team sport. S'up with those other guys? I guess it's a rhythm thing when there's a new Robert Parrish in the hole, and he goes down.

This is because their main man (not Kobe) is missing. Mr. Andrew Bynum. Kwame Brown is no substitute for the young Bynum and we have the numbers from yesterday's game against Phoenix

Initially. This was until Andrew Bynum, the 20 year-old phenom, woke up from from his youthful slumber and occassional flashes of brilliance, and started playing some man-sized basketball, regularly posting double-doubles and averaging around twenty a game (not to mention, they have won seven in a row, to this point). It is difficult to predict where and when talent will bud in the NBA, even stars dim when they get into 'the show'. However,

Although only 20 years old, Lakers center, Andrew Bynum, is proving night in and night out that he will, if not already, be one of the best centers in the NBA.  Last night he thrashed the Pacers, dunking everywhere, including on the man he was rumored to be traded for in the summer, Jermaine O'Neal.  It makes me reminisce over the glorious throw down he had on Shaquille O'Neal a couple years back. With two O'Neals down, who's next? Ed O'Neill, of Al Bundy fame? Tatum O'Neal of alcoholic childstar, drug addict fame? Her father, Ryan O'Neal, of movie star, young Melanie Griffith-banging fame? April O'Neil of cartoon reporting, Ninja Turtles fame?
