Battle at The Garden

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics have indeed renewed there once coveted rivalry. The Lakers have had a very sour taste in there mouth since last year's NBA finals and this year they have come to play against the Celtics. The Lakers, yet again must learn life without Andrew Bynum. And this year things will be different. They match up so well with the Celtics. Kobe and Gasol against Garnet, Pierce, and Allen. One of the Celtics three will always shoot themselves in the foot. The Lakers bench is devised of quick, nagging, humble assassins who have come to love there role of being Kobe's sidekicks. The Celtics bench is devised of a Big Baby, a Leon Powe and a cold blooded Eddie House. I guess you could throw in an ineffective Tony Allen, as well.

Their most recent game on February 5, 2009, was one that was won by the better team. I must say that Paul Pierce has stepped up to the challenge of guarding the most potent player in the NBA. But Paul, Kobe will not be denied. On a night where Kobe had to work for every point he scored, we all saw why he is the best player in the NBA. Mr. fourth quarter buried a trio of three pointers in the fourth quarter to keep his team within reach of winning the game. All of us Laker fans watched in pure joy as Big Baby tried to develop his NBA jump shot. We will gladly accept him with the rock in his hands when the game is on the line. The game was called like it was the Super Bowl. Whistle after whistle. Penalty after penalty. Until finally Kevin Garnet fouled out. Advantage LA. We Laker fans knew the game was ours. Those pesty Celtics did give the Lakers a run for there money, but the game was won by the better team who didn't play there best.

Pau Gasol has morphed into Kobe's version of Scottie Pippen. The man should be King of Spain. For a guy who sat in misery with the Memphis Grizzles, he must love his life with the Lakers. 24 points and 14 rebounds on 10-14 shooting from the floor, as he helped his team knock of the champions of Boston, who won the title at the Lakers dispense. Kobe chipped in 26 points on 10-29 shooting, 10 rebounds and five assists. Lamar Odom scored 20 points. The Celtics big three of Garnet, Pierce and Allen totalled 59 points and they needed 61 to beat LA. They fell two shy.

Does Rajon Rando know who Kobe Bryant is? Well at least Rondo's teammates do. I found it very humorous that Pee Wee would even play with the thought of putting his hands on Mr. Basketball. Mr. Rando you don't even deserve to tie Kobe's shoes. Keep your hands to yourself. Very ironic how ineffective Pee Wee was after that moment. Play with fire and you will get burned, I guess.

Yes, Boston you still are the Champs. You have a bulls-eye on your backs the size of Rondo's ego. Lakers fans hope that you reach the NBA Finals. The sour taste in the Lakers players and fans mouths will not go away until we personally strip you of that title and winning the two match ups in the regular season has instilled the confidence that it can be done. Phil and Kobe already have the confidence, but they are not human.

The Lakers once again have the best record in the NBA. This east coast road trip was one that America would get a chance to see how the Lakers would respond to losing there young talented big man. Have no fear America the Lakers still have Kobe Bryant. This team will go as Kobe goes. And believe me, Kobe will go. As the Lakers solidify themselves as best in the NBA the stage is set for Sunday. The King against Kobe. America will be tuning in to watch another classic battle as Cleveland tries to knock off the Lakers. Please stay tuned.....
