Okay, Man Ram, you are a superstar MLB player. You are entitled a nice paycheck. It is obvious, why you would be looking for a long term deal. Let's look at why you deserve a long term deal.
First, you are an outstanding talent. One of the best offensive talents in this generation. You have the ability to attract many people to the ball park. Your presence, in any lineup, will scare any opposing pitcher. You have the ability to take a poor offensive team like the Los Angeles Dodgers all the way to the NLCS almost single handily by the swing of your bat. You are a very hard worker on the field and you are determined to win.
Now, why you don't deserve a long term deal.
The defensive part of your game is quite frankly that of a high school player. You quit on the Boston Red Sox and became a complete distraction, ruining a team made of chemistry. You have at times played for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the name on the front of it, hence "Manny being Manny". The track record you have made for yourself is not worthy of nothing but short term contracts.
Turning down the Dodgers, one year contract offer worth 25 million dollars, shows the fans and MLB teams, that you want to bank on the money that you believe you are worth now, instead of later. Mr. Ramirez please become a professional and think about how your actions of the past and your greed for money has affected your fans and the fans of teams that you used to play on. We thrive to see our favorite teams win and you play a major part in that.
So Man Ram, if money is your objective, take what you can get. But please remember we the fans buy your jersey and pay to come see you play at the ballpark. The fans Man Ram, are paying some of your salary. Does the fans a favor, play to be a role model, play to be a winner not a quitter, play to be a champion.
